Another proof, if any were needed, that the ancient Initiates knew of more than seven planets is to be found in the Vishnu Purâna (II. xii) where, describing the chariots attached to Dhruva (the Pole Star), Parâshara speaks of “the chariots of the nine planets,” which are attached by aërial cords.
